Offering the Finest in Home Daycare…

Ms. Vickie’s Daycare proudly offers exemplary in-home daycare. Welcome to our home! Your choice of a family day care for your child will allow him or her to join a small group of children, infant to preschool age. This setting allows for socialization benefits in combination with increased individual attention for your child. Here we provide an outline of a typical day for the children, and a brief tour of the facility in photographs. Of course, we look forward to giving you more details in person!

From the photos above, you’ll see our back yard features a large play area with mature shade trees. We also have a covered patio for riding toys, bowling, or perhaps a rousing game of basketball! Out front, you will find an extra-large driveway for convenient drop-off and pick-up.

Parent Drop-off

Home Daycare: Front Entrance

As mentioned above, we have plenty of space out front, so you won’t find yourself in the “traffic snarl” typical of larger child development centers. Drop-off time for the daycare is between 6:00 and 9:00 am. On arrival to the daycare, each child will see his or her name displayed over their personal coat hook. Organized shelving and colored bins are provided for the children’s belongings, so nothing gets lost “in the shuffle.” Starting the day organized in this way is beneficial for all parties: children, parents and teacher!

Breakfast and Indoor Play

Home Daycare: Indoor Play

From 7:30 to 8:30, there is hand washing and breakfast… potty time, and more hand washing. Children cannot function, and certainly cannot learn on empty, so breakfast is one of our first orders of business! Note that breakfast is only provided for those children arriving before 8:30 am, so please be aware that the next full meal for those arriving later will not be served until lunchtime at 11:30. There will be a snack at 9:30, however, after some “lessons” (Circle Time, Concept Development, Art and Music).

Circle Time, Concept Development, Art and Music

Home Daycare: Circle Time

Circle Time focuses on language development and listening skills. Subject matter includes: calendar, weather, games, spelling (names), alphabet, reading comprehension, phonics, numbers, counting, colors, shapes, theme related stories and songs. Oh, and the answers to many, many questions!

Concept Development focuses on language development, small motor skills, pre-reading and math concepts.

Art lessons focus on development of expression through different art mediums, both theme-related and free expression.

Snack Time!  At 9:30, hand washing… snack time commences; potty time, too.

Music time runs from 9:45 to 10:00. The focus is on musical appreciation and expression using musical instruments, dancing ribbons, music CD’s, rhythm sticks and bean bags.

Outdoor Play

Home Daycare: Outdoor play "Unstructured Time"

Nothing goes over better than a little unstructured time; we all need it, but that goes double for our children! A full hour of outdoor play is part of the daily routine, once the lessons are over with. But that doesn’t mean the learning has stopped: experts agree that some of the most important learning occurs during playtime. Playtime is undoubtedly the most natural way for children to learn about the world around them. A child’s inherent curiosity will lead to many of life’s most important lessons. Truly, our job here is to ensure that these lessons can be learned in the safety of a nurturing environment.

Lunch and a Nap!

Home Daycare: Lunch CounterAfter outdoor playtime and hand washing (of course!), lunch will be prepared while the children enjoy a video. As the photo here shows, the children are never out-of-sight, because the lunch-prep counter is situated where the children can be clearly viewed at all times. Please be assured that we have taken all steps necessary to provide a safe and secure environment for your child. (Frankly, you should expect no less from any daycare provider, who is responsible for the safety of your child!) Lunch is served at 11:30. After lunch, it’s nap time, from 12:45 to 2:45 pm.

Snacks are provided at 3:00 pm; a second smaller snack will be allowed at 4:00, as needed.

Parent Pick-up, Indoor/Outdoor Activities: From 3:00 to 5:30 pm, indoor or outdoor activities are planned for the children, and children are prepared for parent pick-ups. Of course, your child will not be released to ANYONE other than persons you have listed on the official DSS information sheet, without prior written authorization from the parent or guardian.

As the children are leaving for home… we’re preparing for another busy day!

Home Daycare: Indoor Play Area

We are proud of our home daycare facility. Once all of the children have gone home, upkeep is in order. Our nightly routine necessarily includes readying the daycare for the next day of FUN! We maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness for our home and business. So in addition to preparing for the next day’s lessons, we strive to keep Ms. Vickie’s Daycare in top-notch condition!
